Pyrus™ Inlay Collection
Each piece sets a strip of Pyrus™, bacterial cellulose already grown by nature and otherwise discarded as kombucha brewery waste, into a hand-finished band. No tree is felled. No two are alike.
The Material
Kombucha breweries dispose of literally tons of excess SCOBY, the rubbery mat of cellulose their fermentation process produces, already grown by nature. We collect it and, through a proprietary process, transform it into Pyrus™: a material with the density and finish of tropical hardwood, made in days rather than grown over decades like the endangered trees it replaces.
Same molecule. Different origin.
Endless Forms
Why No Two Match
Competitors engineering lab-grown materials try to erase batch variation. We don't. Each SCOBY batch ferments under slightly different conditions (humidity, culture age, brewery source), and that shows up as one-of-a-kind marbling in the finished ring. Think of it the way you'd think about a wine vintage.

Available Now
Hand-finished in small batches, made from Pyrus™ densified from repurposed kombucha SCOBY. Available in two finishes.
Pyrus™ is a first-of-its-kind material, and we're still an early-stage company. A ring you buy right now goes directly toward getting this material past its earliest days, not just into your hands.
$148
A strip of Pyrus™ set into a gold-toned stainless steel core, the first design we ever made and built to be worn every day. The steel core carries the daily wear; the Pyrus™ inlay carries the story.
$148
A strip of Pyrus™ set into a plain, silver-toned stainless steel core, for a quieter everyday look with the same durability as The Original.
Before You Buy
Pyrus™ is a first-of-its-kind material, so we're taking extra care with every ring that goes out. If your ring arrives with a manufacturing flaw, let us know within 30 days and we'll replace it free of charge.
Pyrus™ reaches a density above 1.3 g/cm³, denser than lignum vitae, the densest wood on record. The Pyrus™ itself is set into the band as an inlay, so the band takes the daily contact while the Pyrus™ sits protected within it, giving you the material's look and story with metal-level durability. We still recommend removing any ring for heavy manual labor or contact sports.
Brief contact with water is fine. We don't recommend swimming or long soaks; treat it like a nice watch. Dry it off if it gets wet and it'll hold its finish for years.
Each listing runs true to standard US ring sizing. If you don't know yours, a strip of paper wrapped snugly around your finger and measured against a ruler gets you within half a size, or ask us and we'll walk you through it before you order.
Because it will be. The listing photo shows a real ring we've made. Fermentation conditions vary between production runs, so your ring's marbling will be genuinely its own. That's not a manufacturing defect. It's the actual material behaving the way biology does.
